Description

Snowbound at Christmas

The tall, dark stranger needed Wren Matthew's help--and the shy schoolteacher couldn't turn away a man in distress. She didn't know why Keegan Winslow was out in the middle of an ice storm, but the spirit of the holidays compelled her to open her home to him. And although she'd sworn off men, she couldn't deny the sparks that crackled between them.

Keegan was a cop on a mission when sweet, lovely Wren rescued him from the storm. But the haven--and the love--he found in her arms was a happiness he couldn't last. Especially when he couldn't offer her the one thing she wanted: his heart.

If you like emotional, heart-tugging, wholesome holiday romance novels, you will love KEEGAN, the 1st book in the Texas Rascals series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Lori Wilde. Buy your copy today!

A bit of mystery, then some suspense, and goodness and romance triumph in the end. Classic good vs evil and character-defining and developing story underlies the main events. An easy and satisfying read, very enjoyable! Strong yet vulnerable characters in both male and female forms without an overbearing gendered imbalance are well drawn for the most part. A sense of their “personal demons” is conveyed and the gradual unfolding of detail of their previously defining tragedies makes Keegan’s and Wren’ motives and actions more understandable and relatable. Who hasn’t experienced self-doubt and loss in similar ways to how it is portrayed here? Naturally, most of us fortunately don’t end up in genuine peril in certain ways like our protagonists have though! Not an overwhelming number of word, typographic, punctuation, grammatical or consistency errors, but the book could use a bit of cleanup here and there, nonetheless so four instead of five stars. Nothing most people will perhaps notice, but a professional editor should have caught a number of things my natural eagle eye took in. Don’t let it stop you from reading it (though I hope, Lori Wilde, that your next books will have better proofing and editing). This is a ‘clean’ romance without explicit sex scenes (though not prudish, physical attraction is described!) or swearing and loses nothing for those clear choices made by the author. I respect that and its being a good story so I am looking forward to reading more in the series.
